
From formation to A-Grade: Old Geelong Women’s makes history
Old Geelong Football Club opened its 2025 season in historic fashion, with its women’s side marking their first year in the William Buck Premier competition with two wins straight out
St Bedes / Mentone Tigers have beefed up their coaching panel ahead of the 2013 season by appointing Steve Lawrence to their coaching team.
The former Caulfield Grammarians premiership coach has joined the Tigers as an assistant to Senior coach Mick Dwyer and will also be responsible for much of their junior development.
Lawrence joins a coaching team that also includes former Saint Jamie Shanahan – who pulled on the boots for St Bedes / Mentone Tigers last year to help them out during an injury crisis.
St Bedes / Mentone Tigers President Tom Brain said the appointment was an exciting one the for the club.
“Steve will look after the development of our talented youngsters as well as helping Mick take the team back to Premier Section Finals in 2013.
St Bedes / Mentone Tigers were runners up in 2011 but missed the finals last year after a horror start to the year (1-6) that saw them in relegation trouble.
The Tigers finished off the year in fine style to eventually finish in sixth place with a record of 9 wins – 9 losses.
Lawrence departed Caulfield Grammarians this year after four years at the helm.
In his time with the club, they won the 2011 Premier B Premiership and returned to Premier Section for the first time in 26 years.
