COACH ACCREDITATION AND COACHES NIGHT

By VAFA · March 21, 2013

The VAFA would like to remind each club that it is compulsory for every coach to be accredited with a Level 1 Accreditation before coaching in the VAFA.
If a club has a coach who is not accredited, the club risks losing their points and receiving a fine for each game that the coach leads the team.  We have advertised all the coaching courses on our website since before Christmas and we believe that there has been plenty of opportunities for coaches to complete these courses.
If you have recently appointed a coach and he is not accredited, please contact the Football Operations department (9537 6705) immediately to discuss how your coach will complete an accreditation course.
Next Wednesday is the VAFA Coaches Evening for all senior, under 19 and under 18 coaches.  This meeting will be held in the Jim Stynes Room at the MCG.
In previous years we have had two meetings, one for the under 19 and under 18 coaches and a separate meeting for the senior coaches but this year there is a change to the format.
The meetings will be combined as the two keynote speakers will be applicable to all coaches. Dr David Maddocks will speak on Concussion and how each club should be dealing with players who have suffered concussion.  The second speaker will be Nick Austin who is the Opposition Analyst for the Richmond Football Club.  We are sure both speakers will provide valuable information for all coaches.
Prior to the commencement of the session and keynote speakers a separate 15 minute session will be held for all under 18 and 19 coaches. This brief session weill stress the the important role our junior coaches have in our association and some guidelines and expectations that the Association has for our junior coaches will be set.
The Coaches Evening is compulsory for all senior, under 19 and under 18 coaches to attend.
The timeline for the evening is as follows:
Wednesday 27th March  – Jim Stynes Room MCG
7:00pm    Briefing for under 18 and under 19 coaches
7:15 pm   Briefing concludes
7:30pm     Coaches meeting commences for all coaches

  • Speakers – David Maddocks (Concussion),
  • Nick Austin (Richmond Football Club),
  • Brian Goodman (umpiring and rules),
  • Nigel Credlin (Representative Football)

8:45pm    Meeting Concludes
8:50pm    Refreshments provided
