ROUND 4 WRAP – PREMIER – PREMIER C

De La Salle stamped their authority on Premier Section with a two-goal win at Beaumaris ending the Sharks dream start to the season. The Sharks were held goalless in third and Pickett kicked his mandatory four goals in the De La win that has them as the only undefeated team in the section. Old Xaverians sounded an ominous warning that they are back with a thumping 73 point win at Old Scotch. Brendan Goss (7 goals) and Jake Williams (6) were dominant in the win. Collegians also returned to form with a resounding 47 point win over St Bernard’s. Jack Solomon kicked six for St Bernard’s but Nick Corp bagged seven goals as Collegians kicked 10 goals to none in the final quarter. Uni Blacks recorded a 31 point win over St Bedes/Mentone Tigers that was setup with a six goal to none second term. Uni Blues defeated Old Carey at Dunshea Oval to leave the Panthers as the only side in Premier without a win.
The top of the table clash in Premier B produced a beauty with Old Trinity eventually triumphing over AJAX by just four points. Ed Weatherson kicked five in the thrilling win that leaves Old Trinity the sole undefeated side at this level. Old Haileyburians upset the previously unbeaten Old Brighton at Brighton Beach Oval by 26 points. Parkdale Vultures have found their groove in Premier B recording back-to-back wins, this week over the visiting St Kevins. Chad Ryan slotted seven goals for the Vultures who join SKOBs at 2-2. After a series of 21 straight losses, Caulfield Grammarians finally sung the song holding on to defeat Fitzroy by 7 points. The Fields last won in the Premier B Grand Final in 2011 so this win will be celebrated almost as hard as that win tonight! Werribee join Fitzroy as the two winless sides of Premier B after going down at home to Old Melburnians by 98 points. Tom Hywood and Alex Armstrong bagged six goals each for OMs.
In Premier C Marcellin continued to set the standard with a comprehensive 134 belting of NOBs St Pat’s. Eight Eagles kicked three goals or more, Ben Kerton the best with five. Mazenod joined the Eagles at 3-1 after defeating Old Ivanhoe by 15 points. However Monash Blues sit pretty on top of the table undefeated after a 33 point win over a much improved Oakleigh. Old Camberwell broke their duck with a thumping 11 goal win over Banyule. Jack Duke snared eight goals for the Wellers. Peninsula went 3-1 with a solid 35 point home win over PEGS.
