LACE IT UP – STEP BACK THINK

By VAFA · May 30, 2013

The VAFA is proud to be associated with Step Back Think and their new campaign: Lace Up – Take a stand against youth violence
Step Back Think seeks to create a culture where people use their heads instead of their hands. The consequences of street violence can be devastating and even fatal.
By generating conversation and educating people we believe we can change perspectives and potential behaviour.
They are an organisation run by young people for young people. Sadly the catalyst was one young person.
On October 13 2006, out celebrating his 20th birthday, Old Carey footballer James Macready-Bryan had his brain and life permanently altered as the result of one punch.
While his friends couldn’t change the past they realised they could change the future for others and Step Back Think was created.
In 2013, Step Back Think are asking you and your team to Lace Up and take a stand against youth violence.
How to enter
The Lace Up campaign provides an opportunity for individuals and clubs to put their best foot forward by lacing up in support of Step Back Think
Join some of Australia’s leading sportspeople and go in the running to win $15,000 worth of prizes by simply rocking some free new laces.
Like you, AFL teams Carlton and Hawthorn will be showing their support when they meet in Round 12 on June 14th.
To go in the running to win $15,000 worth of prizes:
 1. Lace Up with your free Step Back Think laces
2. Find a location and strike a pose
3. Take a photo of yourself or your team (with the laces clearly visible)
4. Submit your photo either:
a. Online (at www.stepbackthink.org)
b. On Facebook (tagging “StepBackTHINK”)
c. On Twitter (using hashtag  #StepBackThink)
Competition entries will be judged on originality and creativity and will be open from 14 June 2013 to 31 August 2013.
In the coming weeks Step Back Think will be emailing clubs before sending out laces, however if you haven’t been contacted and wish to take part, please email Eliza McDonald ([email protected]) for more information.
For Terms & Conditions, visit the Step Back Think website at www.stepbackthink.org
