The VAFA U23 Representative team slammed on six first quarter goals to setup a 15 point win over the SAAFL. The VAFA led by as much as 8 goals early in the last before the South Australians were able to kick some consolation goals.
Phil Edgar backed up from playing for St Kevin’s on Wednesday night to be amongst the best for the Vics as he finished with three goals. Captain Jack Bull led from the front putting in a masterful opening quarter that helped the Vics gain a big advantage of the Croweaters.
Coach Andrew Hayes was incredibly proud, “I am just so proud of the way the players attacked the footy”
“They played for each other and they played as a team and that’s all you can ask for at this level.”
Bart Walsh was awarded the best player on the ground for his brilliant and tireless work in the back half of the ground.
Jacob Williams won plenty of the ball through the middle of the ground whilst Brendan Goss had multiple opportunities to kick goals but only managed 2.5 for the afternoon.
Tom Penberthy rucked tirelessly for most of the afternoon and PEGS dynamo Cam Lavori had a blinder of a first half that was capped off with him receiving the Spirit of the Big V Award.
