A squad of 53 players have been selected in the initial squad for the Premier B to Division 4 team to take on the Worksafe AFL Country Victoria team on 7th July.
A total of 32 clubs from five sections are represented in the squad that will commence training at Harry Trott Oval in Albert park from next Wednesday night.
On the back of yesterday’s announcement of the Senior Big V squad, it is important to note that many of the players in the Premier B – Division 4 squad are also eligible for the senior team.
The rationale behind the selections was it was better to train well with the Premier B- Division 4 team and be promoted rather than be cut from the Senior squad and have to start again. So all players should be aware they are still a chance for the Senior team that takes on the senior Vic country team on the same day.
The Premier B – Division 4 coach Brett Voss is a first time representative coach and has been heavily involved in the selection process.
“I am thrilled to be looking after such a quality group of individuals and the challenge of blending this group into a winning 22 is one that I both excited and optimistic about,” said Voss.
Old Melburnians have the most representation in this squad with four players selected.
The squad also contains three players who represented the VAFA in their recent U23 team that defeated the SAAFL. Ned Hunt (Old Trinity), Cam Livori (PEGS) and Bart Walsh (Banyule) all have the chance to earn their second Big V jumper for 2013.
The Premier B – Division 4 match against the Worksafe AFL Victoria Country will be played on Sunday 7th July at Harry Trott Oval. The game will commence at 11.15am giving all spectators the chance to cross the road to the Junction Oval to watch the senior team take on the senior Vic Country team commencing at 2pm.
