FINAL TEAMS ANNOUNCED

By VAFA · July 6, 2013
FINAL TEAMS ANNOUNCED

The Premier B – Division 4 and the U19 VAFA representative sides to take on the AFL Victoria Country have been finalised and both coaches are delighted with the 22 at their disposal.
The Premier B – Division 4 sie will be led by St Kevin’s big man Anthony Lynch with Leigh Flethcher (Hampton Rovers) and Matt Dean (Werribee) names as his Vice Captains.
Premier B – Division 4 Coach Brett Voss believes leadership won’t be an issue for this side as there are up to five club captains named in the 22.
Voss told Inner FM’s VAFA Football Show this morning it was an honour to be asked to coach a VAFA representative side and he jumped at the chance.
“It has been a fantastic experience and something that I have really enjoyed, I am very fortunate the the VAFA thought of me for the role” Voss said.
Old Trinity U23 Big V Representative Ned Hunt was a late withdrawal from the Premier B – Division 4 side due to hamstring tightness. Although Hunt completed training with the group on Friday night he selflessly declared himself unfit to play.
“Ned’s character is upfront and honest, much like his football and he came up to tell me he didn’t think it was right for him to play in such a important match in those circumstances” Voss told the Inner FM team.
You can view the complete squad below.
The U19 team has also been finalised with coach David Gately informing the unlucky Gerard Gleeson (St Kevin’s) that he was 23rd man and emergency for the match.
Old Trinity’s Gabe Hamilton will Captain the U19 team with Josh Ward (Beaumaris) and Joseph Fischer (Old Haileyburians) named as the Vice Captains.
Gately told Inner FM this morning that it was an exciting selection process but equally difficult at the same time.
“In order of priority for selection, we gave the edge to those players who were playing senior football, then those that play at the highest level, then we looked at their training form and their commitment to the team” said Gately.
You can view the complete U19 team below.
Both the U19 and the Premier B- Division 4 teams commence their matches against the AFL Victoria Country at 11.15am at the Junction Oval and Harry Trott respectively.
You will be able to listen to the broadcast of the U19 match live from 11.15am on 96.5 Inner FM and you will be able to watch a replay of both matches the following day on vafatv.com.
Both matches are curtain raisers to the senior match that commences at 2pm at the Junction Oval.
