Remembering Ian Redpath
The recent passing of Australian cricketing great Ian Redpath reminded us of Paul Amy’s recent story for News Corp about Ian’s passion for the VAFA. Redpath is best known as
Congratulations to Old Trinity’s captain Brendan Iezzi, he claims his second Moore Medal four years after his first. Iezzi has now won three VAFA Best and Fairest Medals including his Woodrow Medal in 2011. Iezzi’s total of 33 votes is close to a record (we think and are checking!) it is the 5th time a player from Old Trinity has won the Moore.
Old Melburnians skipper Tom Paule finished runner up on 24 votes a total that would have won him the medal last year
Fitzroy’s captain Rory Angiolella finished third on 19 votes.
AJAX had 3 players inside the top 7 (Poyas, Ludski & Routman) but no one could come close to Brendan Ieezi who polled well in the final rounds to lead the count from Round 12 to Round 18.
What a way to finish for Iezzi who claims the 3 votes in the final round to extend his winning margin to 9 votes!
