Chris Mangoni has made a huge impact at St Bedes/Mentone Tigers and the VAFA in his first season in Premier Section football.
The former Mazenod student has fitted in at the Tigers like a glove, and from Round 1 has been a valuable member of the team to play 15 of our 18 home and away matches averaging better than a goal a game playing mostly from the midfield. Chris played in the Tigers’ 2nd Semi Final loss last weekend and will be a key part of the preliminary final team this week.
Whether playing down back, up forward, or running through the midfield, his ability to create space, and win the ball is second to none, and has been a great catalyst in many of his side’s victories during the season.
Chris was also selected as a worthy representative in this year’s VAFA Under 19 side that played against AFL Victoria Country at the Junction Oval. Named amongst the best, Chris was instrumental in the stirring victory over the Country U19s.
Chris also managed to play a couple of VFL Games with Collingwood impressing all at that level with his attack on the football.
Very popular with his peers, Chris has settled very well into the culture of St Bedes/Mentone Tigers and amateur football and is a very worthy winner of the VAFA Club Warehouse Rising Star Award for season 2013.
A season that has seen a determined young man mature into a fine individual both on and off the field.
Mangoni will be presented with his award at the Woodrow Medal Night at Crown’s River Room.
