PEGS ANNOUNCE NEW COACHING PANEL

PEGS Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Murray as Senior Coach for season 2014.
Mark is very highly respected in VAFA circles, having played 340 games with Mazenod, De La Salle and Hawthorn and is a three-time premiership and club best & fairest player during this time. Mark’s coaching resume includes Senior Coach of MHSOB & Hawthorn AFC and most recently Senior Assistant Coach with Fitzroy FC the past two seasons. Joining Mark as part of his coaching team is an enthusiastic, dynamic and energetic coaching group.
Dominic Barker will be Senior Assistant and Midfield Coach. Dominic has over 23 years of senior playing experience with Mazenod, Mulgrave and Port Melbourne Colts including winning three Premierships as a player. He was most recently Senior Assistant Coach with Port Melbourne Colts in the WRFL.
Michael Regan will be Backline, Game Analysis and Fitness Coach. Michael has played 160 games for Mazenod and will be driving the fitness program and game analysis for the club. Michael has a strong teaching background and currently works for Catapult Sports utilising the GPS technologies used in 17 of the 18 AFL Clubs, while also working as a part time recruiter for Port Adelaide FC in 2014.
Chamath Jayaweera will be Forwards Coach. Chamath is well known in the VAFA having played over 230 games for Mazenod, leading their goal kicking on four occasions and playing under very well credentialed coaches during that time. He will be responsible for the club’s forward line players at training and match day.
The coaching selection panel were impressed with the group’s plan to take PEGSFC forward in the future and the combination of youth and experience provides a new element for the club’s coaching ranks and playing list. The club’s committee, coaching team and leadership group have a strong and united commitment to grow the club on and off the field and will provide PEGSFC players with strong environment to prosper next season and beyond.
To add to the exciting new appointment, we are pleased to announce Frank Troost as Under 19 coach for 2014. Frank is returning to the club where he led the U19’s to a Grand Final in 2009 and brings with him a wealth of football experience. We are very excited for Frank to lead the Under 19 team next season and develop the club’s younger players.
Life member and 200-game stalwart Stuart Dale will continue as Reserves Coach and will be looking to steer the Reserves to success next season, while fellow life member and 200-game player John Hughes will continue as Thirds Coach for 2014 after a successful year playing finals.
PEGS will be holding a “Meet the Coaches” night on Wednesday 13th November for all players and recruits, with pre-season kicking off on Monday 18th November at PEGS Sporting Fields.
Please join us in welcoming Mark and his team along with Frank to PEGSFC and we look forward to making some further announcements in the coming weeks.
Craig Ridley
PEGSFC President
