It is with great sadness that after a long and courageous battle with illness Therry Penola’s club legend Bob Lyons passed away yesterday. Bob was Therry through and through in a career both on and off the field spanning over 30 years. On field he played an amazing 465 VAFA games, a record at Therry Penola unlikely to ever be surpassed, was a captain, was a coach, and in more recent years continued to support the Thirds as their mentor and runner. Off field Bob served on the committee for a number of years and was a club Life Member.
Bob epitomised what Therry Penola strives to achieve and his positivity and sense of humour will be sadly missed but forever remembered.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Julie, Seamus, Conor and Liam and both Bob’s and Julie’s families during these sad times.
