Paul Satterley (senior coach – De La Salle) on their 54 point win over St Bedes/Mentone Tigers
“It was a complete team effort with the Leadership Group giving their all”
Anthony Rock (senior coach – St Bernards) on their 33 point win over Uni Blacks
“While we were positioned fourth and they were positioned first on the ladder, we were graded one and two in attack and defence. There wasn’t much between us.We had to really make an emphasis of our clearances and our stoppage work and we thought that was really good throughout the game. To the guys credit in the last quarter they played as they had for most of the gate.”
Old Scotch website on their 25 point win over Old Brighton
“We kept persisting, and led by Hugo Perry, Ash Lim, Jack Davis and others we clawed our way back into the game. A good last quarter saw us out score OB to register a tight and vital win. The seniors started really well in a crucial game, getting a couple of goals early really helped. Credit to OB, they never stopped coming and forced a lot of stoppages during the game.” [Read More]
Caulfield Grammarians website on their loss to Fitzroy
“It was another ‘hard day at the office’ when the trip to Fitzroy did not come off as planned. Fitzroy guard their own turf very well and in the slippery conditions, their attack on the ball was strong and their work around the stoppages far more productive than ours. Six changes to our line-up was not ideal but was necessary and again, young guns were exposed to the higher standard in the real ‘heat of battle’ and gained valuable experience”. – [Read more http://www.cgfc.com.au/news/index.cfm?fuseaction=NewsItem&NewsID=46465]
Ben Robertson (senior coach – Old Camberwell) on their 112 point win over Ormond
“We’ve seen what we can do when we come to play for each other, it is now a matter of being consistent in this effort as the challenge is there every week, what separates each team is not skill or ability but the desire to do the little things. Let’s hope that we continue in the same vein for this week against an opposition (Banyule) who has its back against the wall and will no doubt come out loaded with everything they have.”
“Guy Martyn was vocal at the final change and the Rovers weren’t completely out of it, but they needed a dramatic turnaround, one which looked unlikely. While the Rovers just outscored Peninsula in the last, they were never really on top of them, despite the visitors being undermanned and down to one fit player on the bench.”
NOBs/St Pat’s Website on their 67 point win over Whitefriars
“Despite missing a number of players, NOBSPC put in a four quarter performance for the first time this year and completely dominated at Gillon Oval, holding Whitefriars to just two goals and running out winners by 67 points. The scene was set early with hard attack on the ball by the whole team and the opposition never got into the contest. We had winners all over the ground and the back line should be particularly proud of their effort in keeping the opposition goalless in the first half.” [Read More]
