In Division 1 the match of the day was the battle between second and third and Williamstown CYMS whilst still third on percentage finished 17 points ahead of NOBs/St Pats. Keown’s five goals for NOBs were great but he was trumped by Gray’s nine goals for Willy.
Old Geelong came from behind against a gallant MHSOBs to win by just five points at Como Park. The result is a heartbreaker for the Unicorns who are bottom with just one win on the board. Wood was fantastic for OGs with six goals.
Prahran Assumption smashed Whitefriars by 87 points at Toorak Park. Wall bagged six goals and Grigg five as the Two Blues ran riot in the third with an eight goal term.
Old Mentonians proved too strong for Bulleen Templestowe at Ted Ajani. The visitors claiming the win by 23 points, despite a gallant effort by Cherbakof who kicked five goals for the Bullants.
Last year’s Division 2 Grand Final re-match was a one way street as Therry Penola demolished Yarra Valley by 121 points. Corey Bannister kicked another seven goals whilst Yeo bagged five in a losing side.
Like Therry Penola in Division 1, Kew remain undefeated in Division 2. The Bears home by 19 points at Old Eltham. Maibum kicked six and Brazzale four in the win.
Elsternwick recorded their second win of the season and kept Glen Eira winless for the year. The Wicks home by two goals as Thornton kicked another four goals.
Ivanhoe locked themselves into fourth on the ladder after a 16 point win over Monash Gryphons. The Gryphons drop to ninth on the ladder.
Old Paradians showed no signs of slowing their season down as they won on the road at St Johns. Paradians are outright second after their 26 point win.
St Mary’s Salesian tore shreds of South Melbourne Districts, winning by 177 points in the biggest win of the round. Twelve Saints players kicked goals with Dwyer the best of them kicking seven. South Melbourne on the other hand could only kick on goal for the day.
In Division 3, Aquinas held off an impressive Albert Park to win by 25 points at home. Cormack booted four goals in the win.
Richmond Central dropped a second game in a row as they fell to a resurgent Emmaus St Leos by 56 points. Harding kicked seven goals in the win that levels the Animals season at 3-3 and sees the Snakes drop to 5th.
In the closest game of the round Swinburne Uni finished the smallest possible margin ahead of La Trobe Uni at La Trobe. Scores were level at three quarter time but Swinburne’s four goals straight were enough to beat the inaccurate La Trobe’s 3.5.
Damon Marcon bagged five goals to get Northern Blues back on the winners list as they defeated UHS-VU by 38 points.
Power House had their biggest win in a couple of seasons as they trounced South Mornington by 165 points. Collett kicked six to lead allcomers, but 12 other players from Power House were able to split the middle also.
St Francis Xavier held on for two point win over Eley Park Sharks. The X-men sit second on the ladder on percentage but are one of five teams with a 4-2 record.
Canterbury sent a shiver through West Brunswick but ultimately fell just one point short of the Magpies in a brilliant match in Brunswick. The home side came from 32 points down at the final change to steal the points fro the Cobras.
In another one point thriller, Dragons returned to the winners list in sensational style holding on to defeat Box Hill North. Lowden’s five goals enough to get the Dragons a second win of the year.
Hawthorn had little trouble dealing with Point Cook as the Hawks scored and 82 point win over the Bulldogs. Ince kicked five goals and Gold six as the Hawks remain top of the table.
Manningham Cobras won by 148 points over a disappointing Chadstone. The Synners had been much better in recent weeks but were no match for the Cobras as Wills kicked six goals.
In the final game of the round, Westbourne Grammarians were too strong for North Brunswick as they ran out 58 point winners. Ray kicked give goals in the win that sees the Warriors level their season at 3-3 and has them in 5th after six rounds.
