WRAP UP OF PREMIER TO PREMIER C

How good is it watching footy in a third of the way into the season with the temperature hovering in the low 20s? In contrast to the previous two weekend’s worth of matches, players put away the dressing gowns and trackies in favour of ice vests (well maybe not quite ice vests).  
Whilst it may not have been quite hot enough for ice vests, it certainly was a hot footy as Old Scotch recorded a win against Old Xaverians for the first time since Round 3 2012. The Cardinals came out firing in the second term and withstood what Xavs threw at them before settling to win in a canter by 29 points. The margin really should have been more given the wasted chances the Cardinals surrendered. Xavs sit with just one win after five rounds whilst the Cardinals are now the best of the rest outside the top four.
Table topping Old Trinity have had hit a road block to their progress against Collegians at Harry Trott. After the home side galloped out to an early lead OT pinned them back to level pegging before Collegians skipped away to a 15 point win. Burston booted five goals in the Lions win as Old Trinity slid to fourth on the ladder
Back to back home matches are always welcome and St Bernard’s certainly appreciated the fixture as they handled the visiting St Bedes/Mentone Tigers in a reasonably comfortable win by 26 points with Cooke kicking three goals.
De La Salle travelled to Parkville to take on the low scoring Uni Blacks, or so they thought, as Blacks demonstrated they can score heavily an quickly as they kicked the opening six goals of the match to leave De La stunned. Salbbert and Robbins booted three goals each as Blacks moved to second with a 71 point win. 
Old Brighton’s form has been on an upward trend in recent weeks, but it was a wasteful Beaumaris that denied the home side a win to kick start their year. The Sharks defeating the Tonners by 55 points at Brighton Beach Oval, as the wind wreaked havoc on both side’s goalkicking. Beaumaris move to top spot on percentage from the four sides with four wins. 

Premier B action saw Fitzroy venture to Mazenod’s Central reserve and the Roys came away with the points after their 36 point win. Pickering booting five goals in the Roys’ win but he had company as Bisetto kicked four. 
University Blues made light work of Old Haileybury at Princes Park as they cruised to a 95 point win. McKenzie kicked five goals as ten Blues team mates also kicked goals. 
Caulfield Grammarians hosted Old Carey and they were up for the contest from the first bounce. A highly competitive first half ended up swinging the Fields way in the second as they kicked ten goals to three in the second half to record a comprehensive 41 point win. 
AJAX took their season to 4-2 and more importantly sent Old Melburnians packing to a 1-5 start to the year after the lead changed multiple times in an Albert Park grudge match. Jake Lew and David Fayman kicked five goals each in the Jackers’ 11 point win.
St Kevin’s are the form side of the section as they recorded a fifth straight win at Old Ivanhoe. Jason Salopek kicked four goals as Skobbers left Chelsworth Park with a 77 point triumph. Old Ivanhoe joining Mazenod in the bottom two with OM’s also on one win in 8th. 
Premier C’s ladder leaders Peninsula suffered an aberration of sorts as Marcellin piled on 20 goals to 2 in the second half to send their own message to the rest of the competition. The Eagles went to top spot courtesy of their 143 point win over the Pirates. McPherson was brilliant with seven goals, whilst Beaini and Gasparini booted four each. Peninsula dropped to fourth as a result of the loss. 
Hampton Rovers suffered a third straight defeat at the hands of Monash Blues at the University. It was another low scoring affair at the seagull sanctuary, but the Blues were on the right side of the ledger this week as they saluted by eight points. Blues (6th) moved ahead of Rovers who have slipped to 7th.
Ormond and Oakleigh went head to head at the Gunn, but the visiting Oakleigh were too strong winning by 27 points. Aaron Cloke bagged a half dozen goals in the win that sees the Krushers move to third. 
Parkdale Vultures are making a habit of defeating top sides. The Vultures gaining their second win of the year after they beat PEGS at home by 18 points. The margin could have been much more as the Vultures 32 scoring shots to 19, nevertheless, they would be happy securing the four points. 
Old Camberwell levelled their season at 3-3 courtesy of their 33 win over the winless Banyule. De Sanctis kicked five and Campbell another four goals in the Wellers win.
