A squad of 51 has been named for the VAFA Premier B-Division 4 representative match against the AFL Victoria Country 2 side.
The VAFA Premier B-Division team will again be coached by Brett Voss who led the VAFA to their best ever result of a narrow one point loss to AFL Victoria Country (the former VCFL) in a thriller at the Harry Trott Oval last year.
This year’s match against the Country will be played on Saturday July 12 in Geelong.
The squad has been drawn upon from clubs across all six sections (Premier B-Division 4) of the VAFA. There are 29 clubs represented from the six sections.
The breakdown of players from clubs in each section is: 19 players from Premier B; 12 players from Premier C; 9 from Division 1; 6 from Division 2; 3 from Division 3; and 2 from Division 4.
The squad does not include the Premier B players who have been selected in the AFL Victoria Metro squad. Other past Big V regulars were unavailable due to injury or other commitments. This will give an opportunity for more players to represent the Big V. As has been demonstrated from last year’s Premier B – Division 4 side, many of whom were promoted to the senior side the following year.
The squad will commence training next Wednesday 25th June at Sportscover Arena at 6.30pm and will train again the following Wednesday, before reverting to a Tuesday and Thursday night in the final week before the game.
Congratulations to all the players chosen to represent the VAFA and the Big V.
