BLUES RETURN; ROVERS RISE & WILLY TRUMP THERRY

Uni Blues, Hampton Rovers, Williamstown CYMS, St Mary’s Salesian and Hawthorn all promoted whilst Old Brighton were relegated from Premier. 
These were the highlights from a fantastic day of Amateur Football. 
In Premier Section Old Trinity jumped out of the gates against De La Salle, before the home side responded before eventually falling just a goal short. De La Salle stay safe in Premier Section by just 7% from Old Brighton. 
Old Xaverians ran away from Old Brighton in the final quarter to record a 37 point win. The loss was enough, despite De La Salle going down to Old Trinity, to see Old Brighton relegated back to Premier B just a year after winning the premiership at that level. Chris Smith (OX) and Dan Anthony (OB) both kicked four goals each for their sides. 
University Blacks defeated a St Bernard’s side that had 12 changes to it before the first bounce. Despite the raft of changes, the Bernies put on a good show for the opening term before Blacks ran over the top of them to win by 79 points. Adam Pattison the best of the Blacks array of goal kickers with four. 
A strong start from St Bedes/Mentone Tigers wasn’t enough to prevent Beaumaris collecting a final win of the season and a first triumph for interim coach Raph Clarke. Matt Petering booted four goals in the 42 point win that sees Beaumaris finish 7th. 
Last night, Collegians booked a finals rendezvous with Old Scotch who they beat by 77 points. Like St Bernard’s did against Blacks, the Cardinals rested a raft of players and gave debuts to four players. The Old Scotch youngsters put on a brave show but were no match for the switched on Lions. Shura Taft was the star with 8 goals – 7 coming before half time. The haul took Taft’s tally to 53 for the year and he claims his first section leading goal kicker award. 
Premier B 
University Blues will bounce straight back to Premier after they defeated St Kevin’s at Sportscover Arena in the 2nd Semi Final. SKOBs were right in the game at three quarter time, only trailing Blues by three goals and they had use of a five goal breeze in the last. Blues however steadied and kicked a couple of settling goals and soon the margin ballooned out to a game high of more than seven goals. The final gap was 39 points. St Kevin’s will get another chance in next Sunday’s preliminary final.

Premier C
Hampton Rovers earned back to back promotions after they outplayed Marcellin to win by 34 points at Trevor Barker Oval in Sandrinham. Rovers booked a spot in the Premier C Grand Final on the back of an all round team performance.
