Cobras win again as OMs and Westbourne flex
With finals fast approaching, every week in Premier B Women’s proves more and more important. Round 11 saw Old Brighton defend their spot at the top of the ladder, while
Old Carey and Parkdale Vultures won cut throat 1st semi finals to extend their season by another week as we bid farewell to Old Melburnians and Monash Blues for season 2014.
Kicking with the breeze in the opening term Old Carey held the early sway but Old Melburnians were seemingly on top when they took a 7 point lead into half time. Another six goal third quarter from Old Carey, many of their better players all getting their hands on the ball, gave them a 23 point lead to defend in the final quarter. Melburnians kicked the first of the last through Al Armstrong, but Carey responded straight away. A couple more Carey goals before a raft of behinds and a consolation goal for OM’s saw the Panthers move into the Preliminary Final against St Kevin’s with a 23 point win.

Parkdale worked their way back into the game to trail by just five points at the main break and despite a goalless third quarter finished full of running. The Vultures kicked six goals to two in the final quarter to book a preliminary final spot against Marcellin next weekend.
