The VAFA Under 18 Squad left in the early hours of this morning to fly to Auckland, New Zealand for the 6th Annual clash between the VAFA and AFL NZ’s Under 18 teams.
The team captains were announced at Wednesday night’s final training session and dinner and the side will be skippered by Brandon Droessler of Kew. The vice captains are Jordan Tabakman of Ormond and Ryan Malt of Whitefirars.
VAFA Under 18 Coach Owen Lalor spoke to VAFA TV ahead of the final training session (watch the interview below) and said despite the footy season being over, this trip still held great excitement for the players and coaching team.
The VAFA’s first match is on Saturday at 2pm against AFL New Zealand’s U18 side at Parrs Park in Auckland. The team will have a recovery day on the Sunday before they play game two on Monday at 11am at Parrs Park. The team will then fly home Monday night.
