VAFA NOMINATED IN AFL VIC MEDIA AWARDS

VAFA NOMINATED IN AFL VIC MEDIA AWARDS

The VAFA have received four nominations in the AFL Victoria Community Football Media Award categories for 2014. The VAFA has been nominated for best radio match day coverage via 96.5 Inner FM, Best Radio Football Show for the VAFA Football Show also on 96.5 Inner FM, Best Online/Print Feature Story – “Rambo calls it a day” and the VAFA will aim to defend our title in the category of Best use of Online Media for VAFA TV.
The Award ceremony incorporates all community football leagues from across Victoria plus the VFL and TAC Cup with categories covering all forms of media. The awards will be held on Friday, 28 November at Visy Park, Carlton.
This year the VAFA invested further into 96.5 Inner FM, with the station putting together more than 110 hours of content solely devoted to the VAFA. For their loyal team of volunteers this is a great recognition. Each week they produce a 2 hour preview show covering all sections of the VAFA then the team pack up and head to any number of grounds to broadcast the VAFA Match of the Day.
The nomination for the Best Print/Online Feature story for Andrew Leonard’s article, Rambo calls it a day, on the retirement of Andrew Ramsden is the only nomination from a  footy league record/league website to make the shortlist.
VAFA TV continued to build on the success of past season’s by adding new segments like the Anytime Fitness Ultimate Athlete and continuing to visit clubs in the VAFA’s Search for a Star.
Since AFL Victoria invited the metropolitan competitions to the awards in 2012, the VAFA has managed to receive an award each year.
In 2012, Premier B scribe Di Langton won for Best Football Column. In 2013, Andrew Leonard’s VAFA TV show won for Best use of online Media.
See the list of who the VAFA are up against in the three award categories. A complete list of the nominations can be found at aflvic.com.au.
