ANZAC Day football has become a cherished Australian tradition, and we’ve got LIVE VAFA MEDIA COVERAGE of 3 Premier Men’s matches and an Under 19 Premier clash for you to
Help earn $750 for the Club and earn yourself some extra cash!
The current situation with regards to umpire numbers in the VAFA is critically placed. A large number of our senior field umpires are aged over 40. There exists the potential for our field umpiring stocks to be decreased over the coming years. The umpiring department recruits from a number of areas however we find that those that have played the game become very good umpires due to understanding the landscape of football.
The VAFA pays the highest match payments (tax free) to its umpires compared to any other suburban competition. The VAFA has the best environment to umpire in than any other competition. The VAFA has groomed and developed more umpires that have progressed to the VFL list than any other competition. Our coaches are first rate and the umpires group is exceptionally welcoing so becoming an Umpire with the VAFA is an obvious choice.
How can clubs help?
For any person associated with a Club that takes up a field umpiring position with the VAFA in 2015, the Club will receive $750 after the new umpire has completed 12 games. All umpire payments are tax free. Discounts on uniform purchases. First class coaching and education. Importantly we ensure that our umpires officiate close to home so travel is not a burden. Free monthly BBQ’s. You become a member of the Umpires Association that provides a great environment and an atmosphere suitable for all members of their family.
