The VAFA has confirmed that all Tribunal hearings will now be held on Wednesday evenings instead of Tuesdays.
The decision to move the tribunal was made taking into consideration the new rules allowing reports by video and the time needed to complete this task. This change in rules allowing video reports would have meant clubs had little time to prepare ahead of the normal Tuesday session.
VAFA CEO Michael Sholly said, “Whilst video reports were able to be completed last year, clubs requested that if we were to report by video then could they have more time to prepare their case and we were happy to assist with this.”
Another benefit of holding the Tribunal on a Wednesday night is that players and officials, and umpires will no longer need to miss training.
The order of tribunal will be the same as a normal Tuesday night with players eligible for U19 football to have their cases heard from 7.00pm, with senior footballer’s cases to be heard from 7.30pm. This will be brought forward to 7pm should there be no U19 reports.
At the recent VAFA Conference, the session on the Tribunal and it’s processes was one of the most well attended with more than 50 club delegates in attendance. To read more about the VAFA Tribunal and its process you can read the Tribunal Fact Sheet here.
