Three VAFA players from our Metro Championship winning side will represent AFL Victoria’s Metro Melbourne side that will play against the Queensland AFL side on Sunday at Burpengary, Queensland. Matt Fieldsend (De La Salle), Harry Tinney (Old Trinity) and Tom Small (Caulfield Grammarians) have all been named in the final 24.
Fieldsend has continued his good form for De La Salle in the early rounds of the season and is the only member of the travelling side to have played at the Burpengary complex where he represented the VAFA in the senior Big V’s huge 83 point win over the same opposition last year.
Tinney (pictured), who was named best on ground in the VAFA’s win over the Northern Football League in the Metro Championships, has recovered from his concussion suffered a few weeks ago and will been keen for another standout performance.
Small has continued to set the bar high at Caulfield Grammarians this year, averaging more than a goal a game and he has been in the best in five of his six games to date.
Congratulations to all three players that will represent the VAFA in the AFL Victoria squad and good luck as they take on Queensland.
