Old Paradians will look to continue their solid form towards the finals after defeating Elsternwick to the tune of 74 points at Elsternwick Park. In a classic display of accurate goal kicking, the Raiders kicked 24.9, with James Kandilakis and Michael Bellizia snagging six majors each in best-on-ground performances. It was a much-needed win for the Raiders as they hold onto fourth position on the ladder. Contrarily, the loss could not have come at a worse time for the Wickers who are ninth on the ladder with only two wins and a percentage of 66.35.
Richmond Central drew level with MHSOB on four wins for the season after defeating the Unicorns by 40 points at Melbourne High School. It was a battle between two of the form forwards in Division Two, with the Snakes’ Jake Munro and the Unicorns’ Nicholas Hawking kicking five and four, respectively. The Snakes would be disappointed they didn’t convert more of their opportunities and blow their opponents out of the water, kicking 20 behinds for the match.
A 10-goal to three first half helped Old Eltham Collegians hold on and defeat the Northern Blues by 23 points at Ruthven Reserve. Tim Woods continued his stellar 2015 season, kicking three goals and earning himself best-on-ground honours. The Blues outscored the Turtles in the second half with seven goals to five, but the deficit proved far too steep for the home side to overcome. The win keeps the Turtles in touch with the top two sides, while the Blues fall to fifth and a game outside the top four.
South Melbourne Districts have fallen to their ninth straight loss for the season with a 26-point loss at the hands of the Monash Gryphons at Lindsay Hassett Oval. Matthew Cassidy led from the front for the victors, snagging four of his teams’ 15 goals. While the Bloods stay rooted to the bottom of the ladder, the Gryphons move to eighth with two wins.
St Johns have been knocked off their perch on top of the ladder with a 58-point loss to Ivanhoe in the top of the table clash at Thomas Carroll Reserve. Eight goals from Tim Edwards was nowhere near enough as the Hoes put on a second-half clinic, booting 14 goals to four thanks to five majors to Mitchell Lovell. Despite the big loss, St Johns remains second on the ladder with massive percentage of 162.66.
