Former Manningham Cobras captain Ben Cookson sadly passed away last weekend. We pass on our condolences to his family, teammates and supporters of the Club. Below is a tribute from the Cobras.
The Manningham Cobras were saddened to hear the news that former club captain and 4 time B&F winner Ben (Cooka) Cookson passed away on June 20, at the age of 31, after an 18 month battle with cancer.
Ben was a well-loved member of the Cobra family and was a pivotal midfield player for the club earning himself many accolades:
– 130 games
– Senior Captain 2008, 2009 and 2010
– Senior Best & Fairest 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008
– VAFA Division 4 MVP 2005
– Cobras Team of the Decade (2000-2010)
The thoughts and sympathies of the entire Cobra community go out to Bens Mum Jo, Dad Shane, and brothers Marcus and Daniel.
Ben’s competitive nature and constant Brisbane Lions ramblings will echo through the clubrooms forever…
