Hawthorn continues to roll smoothly toward September following their 21-point victory against Glen Eira at Rathmines Reserve. Big man Jason Ince is in vintage form, backing up his six-goal haul against UHS-VU last week with another bag of five against the Saints. Adam Collett was deadly in front of goal with four for the victors.
UHS-VU returned to the winner’s column with a much-needed 12-point victory against La Trobe University at Brens Oval. Trailing by nine points at quarter time, the Vultures piled on nine goals to six in the remaining three quarters in what turned out to be a hard-fought affair. Dean Benstead tore through the midfield for the Vultures and earnt himself best-on-ground honours for his efforts.
West Brunswick made light work of Swinburne University, smashing them by 123 points at Ransford Oval. A seven-goal to nil opening term set the standard for the rest of the match, as the Westies failed to let up at any stage. Scott Hulm starred for the Westies with seven of his side’s 23 goals.
