Hawthorn made it seven wins without a loss after they held on to defeat La Trobe University by six points at Rathmines Road Reserve. Six La Trobe goals to four in the last gave the Hawks a slight scare, but they were able to compose themselves in the clutches thanks to stand out performances from Jesse Lehmann and Sam Gold.
Albert Park recorded a strong 29-point come-from-behind victory over Eley Park Sharks at Beaurepaire Pavilion. Trailing by three points at the main break, the Falcons piled on 10 goals to five in the second half to run over the top of a gallant Sharks outfit.
A 10-goal second half has helped Swinburne University secure a 23-point win against Power House at Ross Gregory Oval. Needing the victory to stay one spot ahead of UHS-VU in fifth, the Razorbacks piled on the 10 goals while only allowing their opponent seven.
UHS-VU registered a much-needed 76-point win against Glen Eira at Brens Oval this weekend. 14 goals to three in the first half set the tone for the Vultures, with four goals from Thomas O’Halloran the catalyst in the big win.
In the Division 3 match of the round, West Brunswick ran all over Aquinas, defeating them by 72 points at Ransford Oval. Despite trailing at the quarter time break, the Westies sent through 14 goals to four to gain the ascendancy over their fellow top four prospect heading into finals.
