From formation to A-Grade: Old Geelong Women’s makes history
Old Geelong Football Club opened its 2025 season in historic fashion, with its women’s side marking their first year in the William Buck Premier competition with two wins straight out
Congratulations to Samuel Devlin of West Brunswick who is this week’s Club Warehouse Rising Star nominee.
Sam made the move to the VAFA from Country Victoria for university commitments and to play alongside his older brother, Rob.
Whilst he is quiet around the club, he lets his ferocious attack and willingness to compete at each contest do the talking.
Sam plays taller than his stature dictates, often out-marking much taller opponents and more often than not, finishing with the most tackles on the ground. Sam previously played senior footy at Echuca Football Club, playing his first game at the age of 17.
Much like North Melbourne’s star forward Lindsay Thomas, Sam causes headaches for opposition teams by working hard up and down the wing and becoming dangerous when going forward.
In just his second senior game, Sam was best on for West Brunswick as he carried his side to victory by kicking four miraculous goals.
