Hawks clip Razorbacks in stunning display of Division 3 football

Canterbury made it three from three to start the Division 3 season as they came back to defeat UHS-VU by four points at Canterbury Sports Ground. Trailing by nine points at the end of the third quarter, the CObras kicked three goals to one in the last to limp over the line and keep their undefeated streak alive. Nick Szabo kicked four and made it 13 for the year, while the assured boot of John Clark registered six majors for the Vultures.

Elsternwick registered their first four points in Division 3 with a 41-point win against Aquinas at Elsternwick Park Oval. Justin Hunter followed up the five majors he kicked in Round 1 with seven this weekend, while Sam Williams bagged six for the second consecutive week for Aquinas.

Five goals from the boot of Bryce Dowler has assisted La Trobe University in their 31-point win against South Melbourne Districts. Steve Clarke is doing something right for the Swans as he was named their best for the third week in a row, while Elliot Kelly was dominant for La Trobe.

Glen Eira inflicted further pain on Parkside’s slow start to the year, thumping last year’s Division 4 grand finalists by 93 points at Packer Reserve. Six unanswered goals in the first term set the scene as the Saints refused to give the Red Devils a look in. Julius Waras Carstensen had his most fruitful outing for the year as he booted six goals for the Saints.

A 12-goal fourth quarter show has helped Hawthorn to a 121-point win against Swinburne University at Rathmines Road Reserve and their third consecutive win to start the season. The Hawks boasted stars all over the ground, with Luke Piccolo, David Tremewen and Nathan Raiti standing out above all. Sam Gold was throwing his rig around until the final siren, while Justin Raiti and David Kennedy each chipped in. Tom Kennedy played a lone hand for the eighth-placed Razorbacks with three goals.

Power House continue to impress this season, winning their second match by 29 points against a well-fancied Albert Park. Luke Stubbs is in stunning form as he backed up his six goals from last week with another five, while Adam Collett tore shreds in a best-on-ground display. Despite looking stronger this season, the Falcons are yet to register a win.
