Jackas make it three from three, Connolly stars in Rising Star bid in Premier B

Beaumaris sent shockwaves through Premier B with a commanding 36-point victory against fellow finals threat St Bedes/Mentone Tigers at Banksia Reserve. Despite trailing by 11 points at the end of the first term, the Sharks went to another level and piled on 12 of the next 17 goals. Josh Ward kicked three goals for the second consecutive week for the Sharks, while Daniel Gribbin joined him with a trio of his own. Paul Wintle and Michael Barnes were the only multiple goal kickers for the Tigers, while Chris Mangoni gave his teammates every opportunity as the best Tiger on the field. The Sharks sit on top of the ladder and a game clear of Old Scotch, Old Haileybury and AJAX, while the Tigers fall to fifth with two wins from four outings.

A six-goal to two third quarter has helped Old Scotch record a 47-point win against Fitzroy at Camberwell Sports Ground. Holding an eight-point lead at the half, the Cardinals sent through 10 of the next 13 goals to run out the game at a greater rate of knots than their opponents. Ed Furey backed up his Round 3 Plays of the Week stunner with five goals, while Jack Bull, James Bowden and Gene van den Broek were relentless for the second-placed Cardinals. Daniel Bisetto kicked his third consecutive bag of three and Tom Cheshire continued his hot form as the Roys look forward to the return of 2015 Premier B section best and fairest, Rory Angiolella, in the coming weeks.

Monash Blues recorded their strongest win for the season in Premier B as they defeated Hampton Rovers by 66 points at Frearson Oval. 12 goals to two in the first half set the scene for the 11-goal demolition as Blues’ James Taylor, Nick Petering and Andre Headberry dominated on their way to four goals each for the match. 2015 U19 Big V representative Daniel Easson was scintillating alongside Maddison Hardiman for the Blues, while Nathan Smith did his utmost for the Rovers with four majors.

Ajax put an end to Old Brighton’s two-game winning streak and made it three from their last three with an 11-point victory at Gary Smorgon Oval this afternoon. Jake Lew put in his second strong performance in two weeks as he kicked three goals and Alex Wollon was deemed best on the ground for the Jackas. Harry Hill continued his stunning form for the Tonners to no avail as they sit sixth on the Premier B ladder and the Jackas move to fourth on the back of the Tigers’ loss.

Corey Connolly did his Grill’d Rising Star hopes no harm at all as he kicked five goals and helped Old Haileybury to a 40-point victory against Parkdale Vultures at Princes Park, Caulfield. Trailing by three points at half time, the Bloods pumped 10 goals to four in the final two quarters as they continued their Premier B campaign in style. Josh Dawson was instrumental for the Bloods, while Jason Bristow and Brayden Stevenson flew the flag for the Vultures.
