Yarra Valley maintained their spot in the four and kept Eltham Collegians winless with a 12-point victory at Eltham College. Trailing by nine points with a quarter to play, the Bushrangers kicked five goals to two in the fourth term. Lochie Dickson (three) and Jordan Canham (five) starred in front of goal for the Bushrangers, while Ben Gill Kicked six and made it 18 from his last three outings.
A nine-goal haul from Tim Edwards led St John’s to a comprehensive 129-point win against Richmond Central at Kevin Bartlett Reserve. The JOCs were relentless throughout the match, showcased by their 20-goal to two differential in the first three quarters. Captain Glenn Costas fed his forwards with orecise delivery all day, with Aaron Thornton joining Edwards with six goals. Joel Louis stood stall for the Snakes on a disappointing day, while Steven Bugeja kicked two for his eighth-placed side.
Emmaus St Leo’s came from seven points down at the three quarter time break to record a stunning three-point victory against Bulleen Templestowe at Ted Ajani Reserve. Daniel Hill did the damage for the Animals in front of goal with three majors and Alexander McDougall chipped in as the next best player. Jack Cowell dominated for the Bullants with three goals, but they now sit in seventh position on the Division 2 ladder with just two wins from their five games.
Melbourne High School Old Boys registered their best win for the year in a three-point thriller against Preston Bullants at W.R. Ruthven Reserve. Leading by 27 points at the last break, the Unicorns allowed 4.6 to just their one straight goal in the fourth term but crept over the line thanks in large to inaccuracy in front of the Bullants’ goal. Kane Smith added three goals to his overall season tally of 16 and Steve Villani dominated in a best-on-ground performance. Olsen Clark was at the forefront of the Bullants’ revival, while Kent Beaumont kicked two.
