The VAFA will host its 10th annual Big V Club Lunch on Friday 5 August at Melbourne’s RACV Club and celebrate the fantastic careers of all former players and officials of the Big V.
Highlighting the event will be the induction of two Big V Champions, Peter Sherwen (Old Scotch) and Michael Deveson (De La Salle); each of whom represented the Big V proudly over a number of years.
Old Scotch star, Sherwen, played 223 games for his beloved Cardinals where he was a two-time premiership player and named in the Old Scotch Team of the Century on a half-forward flank. He represented the Big V on 12 occasions between 1977 and 1985. Sherwen earnt All-Australian selection twice (1983 and 1985) and played against the VCFL in the All-Australian Games (1983).
Deveson played 118 games for De La between 1981 and 1987, claiming two A Section flags and four best and fairest awards during that period. He was named at centre-half back in De La’s 1955-2015 Team of the Century. He donned the Big V 13 times, earnt All-Australian selection in 1985 and captained in 1986.
