Eltham Collegians posted their most impressive and emphatic win of the year, defeating Richmond Central by 128 points at Kevin Bartlett Reserve earlier today. 41 scoring shots to eight told the tail of the Turtle’s dominance as goal kicking star, Ben Gill, registered seven and took his season tally to 69. Jesse Howell was named best afield for the Turtles, while Josh Sharp fought valiantly for the winless Snakes.
West Brunswick’s stranglehold on second position on the Division 2 ladder got tighter as they defeated Emmaus St Leo’s by 136 points at Ransford Oval. Seven unanswered goals in the first term set the scene for the Westies, with Bill Irving starring on his way to a game-high eight goals. Zac Tisdale chipped in with a healthy six majors for the winning side, while Nathan Baranello led from the front for the Animals.
St John’s inflicted Bulleen Templstowe’s second consecutive loss when they ran over the Bullants by 87 points at Thomas Carroll Reserve. Aaron Thornton recorded four goals in his best performance for a month, while Rohan Scott and Glenn Costas led from the front with starring performances for JOCs. Jack Cowell was named the Bullant’s best on the back of his two goals and standout display.
Preston Bullants registered their third win in a row as they defeated Yarra Valley by 42 points at WR Ruthven Reserve. Leading by 14 points at the first break, the Bullants piled on six goals to one in the second and built an unassailable lead. Damon Marcon was best afield with four goals for the Bullants, and Daniel Wakim dominated. Chris Hodgens stood tall for the Bushrangers, who sit just a game clear of MHSOB in fourth.
