Point Cook were forced to come from behind to secure victory against Masala this weekend as they ran out 42-point victors at WJ Turner Reserve. Trailing by two goals at the first break, the Tigers nailed 20 of the next 31 goals as they took control from the midfield. Will Dawson (seven) and Jordan Steen (four) were the main recipients in front of goal for the Bulldogs, while Benjamin Nugent (three) and Sam Freeman (three) top-scored for the Tigers. Despite the loss, the Tigers posted their third highest score for the season (104) against the second-placed side.
A six-goal to two final term has helped Eley Park Sharks escape with a 14-point victory over North Brunswick at Allard Park. The Sharks trailed by nine points at the last break but were able to claim the comeback win thanks in large to David Viola (four), Brent Christie (three) and Andrew Zaicos (three). Patrick Notaro (four) and William Croagh were the Bull’s best.
Box Hill North claimed its biggest win for the season as they defeated Chadstone by 197 points at Elgar Park. Daniel Penny had a day out as he slotted 14 of his side’s 33 goals, while Jordan Gasparini (four) and Michael Penny (four) each chipped in. Daniel Cumming and Jason Edwards stood tall for the Synners; the latter a hot chance of claiming a club best and fairest award.
The week off did little to slow Westbourne Grammarians’ red-hot form as they defeated Manningham Cobras by 177 points at Westbourne School Grounds. Justin Johns (six), Nicholas Schiano (six) and Charles Hunter (five) filled the void left by Dale Collins as they starred in front of goal for the Warriors, while Matthew Colvin kicked one and was named the Cobras’ best.
