VAFA Tragics received the AFL Victoria Community Media Award for Best Use of Online Media (TV Show) at Ikon Park on Friday.
Shortlisted alongside five community football shows, the Tragics were awarded at a luncheon with more than 100 local media representatives in attendance.
Upon accepting the award, Media and Communications Coordinator Nick Armistead said it was a credit to all those involved in the show’s production each week of the VAFA season.
“Andrew Leonard and Brenton Mann volunteer their time and expertise each Monday night for filming and are thoroughly deserving of the recognition,” he said.
“I’d like to thank Will Balme for his services in the first half of the season and My Sport Live for filming each episode in their St Kilda studio.
“The standard of media across community football is unbelievable and showcased by the quality of each nominee here today.”
VAFA Tragics returned for its second year as a three-camera panel show, dissecting each round of the season with in-depth discussion and analysis.
Due to the size of the VAFA, a number of new segments were introduced to help cover as much of the Association as possible. These included 4Q’s, Headlines and Brenton’s Division Report.
4Q’s proved popular as each panel member gave their personal opinion on the hot topics, while Nick incorporated HQ News by delivering the important information via Headlines.
VAFA Media was nominated for five awards across five different categories.
2016 was the first year Best TV Show was a category of its own at the AFL Vic Media Awards.
VAFA Media’s previous wins:
2012 – Best Football Column – Di Langton (Premier B)
2013 – Best Use of Online Media – VAFA TV
2014 – Best Radio Show – VAFA Football Show on 96.5 Inner FM
