Angela Pippos will guest speak at the 2017 VAFA Sportscover Season Launch when we celebrate the 125th year of our Association and the commencement of the women’s competition at the MCG next Wednesday night.
Pippos is an esteemed journalist, author, TV and radio presenter and has released a documentary about the rise of women in football, League of Her Own, which screened on the Seven Network nationally on the opening night of the AFL Women’s competition.
She has also recently released her second book, Breaking the Mould: Taking a Hammer to Sexism in Sport.
While the VAFA looks forward to the introduction of its first-ever women’s competition, the Season Launch will also reflect on the past 125 years as an Association.
Two Life Members, Sue Anderson and Tom Brain, will be inducted for their outstanding contribution, while several of the competition’s hard-working volunteers will be presented with their Certificate of Merit.
Members of the VAFA community who have passed away over the last 12 months will be remembered on the night with a Passing Parade.
The VAFA looks forward to celebrating its past, present and future on the eve of the 2017 season.
