Rovers run down Bloods, Bears overpower Hoers

Hampton Rovers caused a boilover in Premier C when they defeated the second-placed Old Haileybury by 33 points at Boss James Reserve. 10 individual goal kickers contributed to the Rovers’ final tally as they increased a 15-point half time lead with six goals to four in the final two terms. Adam McNeil continued his strong recent form with a BOG display for the Rovers, while Nathan Waite top-scored with four goals for the Bloods. The Rovers now move to five wins for the season but remain two games behind in the relegation zone.

Old Camberwell ended Old Geelong’s three-game winning streak as they ran out 16-point winners at Como Park. Five goals to one in the first half set up the victory for the Wellers and, despite kicking one less goal than the Ogs in the second half, ran out comfortable victors. Cameron Wilson was named best afield for his outstanding display and Alexander Taverner kicked three goals in his first senior game for the Wellers this year. Nicholas Mason was the best for the Ogs, who remain in fourth position on the ladder and three spots above the Wellers.

Old Mentonians came within just one game of the top four after they defeated Williamstown CYMS by eight points at Keysborough Playing Fields. Trailing by three points at half time, the Panthers kicked 8.12 to 8.1 in the second half with Jack Davis, Mitchell Coen and James Dalzotto leading the way with four goals apiece. Mitchell Knight was best for the CYs and William Ostrowsky kicked four goals of his own but they now remain a game outside the four in fifth and just one spot above the Panthers.

Six goals to one in a dominant fourth term helped Kew to their third win for the season as they defeated Old Ivanhoe by 27 points at Victoria Park. The Bears trailed by two points prior to the fourth quarter, but were led by a four-goal haul and BOG display from Matthew Quinn and a standout performance from Max Waters. Brandon Lee kicked four for the Hoers but they now slump to eighth spot on the ladder following their fourth consecutive loss.

29 scoring shots to 13 helped Caulfield Grammarians to a commanding 56-point victory over Marcellin at Marcellin College. Five goals from Declan Reilly led the charge for the Fields as they assumed a 29-point lead at the half and refused to look back. Nicholas Baltas and Will Osborn registered three goals each in outstanding displays for the Fields, while Jono Blanch was the best for the Eagles. The Fields are now three games clear in first, two spots above the Eagles.
