Snow Dogs bring down Tonners, Roys ruin Panthers run

St Bernard’s inflicted Old Brighton with their first loss of the season as they ran out 44-point winners at the Snake Pit earlier today. Trailing by six points at the first break, the Snow Dogs piled on five unanswered goals in the second term before consolidating with another four goals to one in the fourth. Simon Caven and Adam Bentick starred for the Snow Dogs in BOG displays, while Tom Caven and Mitch Hughes also impressed in their side’s first win in three outings. Dylan Verney led the charge for the ladder leaders and Andrew Dewar kicked two goals. The result doesn’t change ladder positions as the Tonners remain a game clear on top while the Snow Dogs are in third.

Fitzroy produced the upset of the round when they defeated Old Carey by 17 points at Brunswick St Oval. Six goals to one in the first term gave the Roys a 31-point lead, before the Panthers struck back and reduced the margin to 13 going into the main break. With goals hard to come by in the second half, the Roys kicked three to two and registered their fifth win for the year as they look to stave off relegation. Nino Lazzaro and Matthew Gaite dominated for the Roys while Jarrod Reid snagged four goals for the Panthers. The loss ends a four-game winning streak for the Panthers as they fall two games outside the four.

Nine goals to one in the third term helped Ajax to a crucial 11-point victory over Mazenod at Central Reserve. Trailing by 23 points at the half time break, the Jackas exploded in the premiership quarter with Dean Rotenberg (4), Jake Lew (4) and Jordan Cohen (BOG) leading from the front. Tom McKenna was instrumental to the Nodders chances throughout the day with a standout performance, while Sam Deegan was their only multiple goal kicker. The win allows the Jackas to stay in fourth spot while the Nodders now fall two games outside the four.

Seven unanswered goals in the first term paved the way for Old Scotch as they defeated Peninsula by 81 points at Peninsula School. Leading by 38 points at the first break, the Cardinals booted another 14 goals to eight as they showcased the difference between the second-best side in Premier B and the Pirates in 10^th.  Jordan Clarke (6) and Jono Daggian (5) had field days in the Cardinals’ forward 50, while Jack Bull continued the outstanding form he’s shown all year. Nick Fisher was the best for the Pirates and Stefan Barbour top-scored with two goals. It was Scotch’s sixth win from their past seven outings.

Monash Blues maintained touch with the top four as they proved too strong for Parkdale Vultures, running out 56-point winners at Gerry Green Reserve. Leading by 20 points at half time, the Blues kicked five goals to two in a dominant third term and cemented their eighth win for the year. Zacchary Ledin starred with four goals in a BOG performance for the Blues, while Ethan East, Matthew Davidson and Andrew Pitson each kicked three. Matthew Boland nailed four for the Vultures as they clumped to their 11^th loss of the year.
