“The committee and entire football community of UHSOB AFC is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden death of its former champion player Vic Zanin. Vic was unfortunately killed in a road accident late Thursday August 17th.
Victor Zanin played only 3 seasons for UHSOB [1985-87] as playing captain coach. In all 3 seasons he won the VAFA league best and fairest by many votes. One 16 game season he scored 31 votes. He represented the VAFA [Big V] once against Canberra. The current D3 best on ground grand final medal carries his name. Victor also was named in the all time UHSOB champion team.
On field Vic lead by example. Not overly tall, he played key positions and midfield equally well. His long rangy left foot was as penetrating as any player who has worn the green and tan. A great mark and hard ball winner were among his many other qualities. Vic was unbelievably competitive in all aspects of the game.
All at UHSOB offer our deepest sympathy to Vic’s family and several close relations still involved at Uni High.”
The VAFA extends its deepest condolences to UHS-VU and the family and friends of Victor at this time.
