VAFA Media is excited to announce it has been recognised by AFL Victoria with four nominations in the 2017 Community Media Awards.
The four nominations are:
After being named Best TV Show in 2016, VAFA Tragics returned for its third year of production as a three-camera panel show with a revised format aimed at discussing the issues facing the VAFA and its clubs. The new format allowed the panellists Nick Armistead, Andrew Leonard and Brenton Mann to discuss the relevant talking points from within our Association; including, the first-ever abandoned match and subsequent splitting of points between Beaumaris and Old Melburnians and the unsubstantiated rumours surrounding St Kevin’s with captain Anthony Lynch. For the first time ever, we produced two shows from the men’s and women’s awards nights, allowing the VAFA community and Tragics viewers into the inner sanctum of how our events unfold and giving them a look at another side to our players.
Nick Armistead’s William Buck Premier Report has been nominated for the second year in a row, as has the team at 96.5 Inner FM for their first-class match day radio coverage of our competition.
VAFA Media embarked on a venture unseen across our competition by filming seven separate lip sync battles involving players from every section of our Association. From William Buck Premier Men’s through to Division 4 and VAFA Women’s, a total of 85 VAFA players lip synced songs from Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepson through to Pat Benatar, One Direction & the Spice Girls. It was an opportunity for players to showcase their personalities away from the football field and enjoy themselves for the public’s consumption.
The shortlisted applicants will now have their submissions evaluated again by a judging panel consisting of experts in the relevant field before a winner in each category is announced at a special luncheon at IKON Park on Friday 8 December.
