Congratulations to Mazenod young gun, Shaun Lovell, who has been named the Round 5 Grill’d Rising Star following a best-on-ground performance against Monash Blues on Saturday.
What the club said:
“Shaun started playing at Mazenod in 2017, while he was on the Eastern Rangers playing list. This year he has joined the club on a full-time basis and has played every senior game this year.
He has played both as a key forward and ruckman and has an insatiable appetite for the contest. Shaun is strong in the air, clean with his hands and has a booming right foot.
His teammates love his aggression and no fear attitude and his fun-loving nature off the ground, always up for a laugh and always a bit of a larrikin.
Shaun’s game reminds the Nodder faithful of former North Melbourne and Carlton best and fairest Corey McKernan. A lovable character, Shaun attended Mazenod College and is currently in his first year as an air conditioner mechanic.”
