Sharks storm home, Dillon, Dornauf, Jaksch boot six in wins

Six goals from Kristian Jaksch helped Old Carey maintain their unbeaten run with a 75-point victory over Old Haileybury. Nine goals to one in the opening half set the scene for another Panther thumping before they piled on a further six goals to two in the fourth term. The Bloods hit back slightly in the third with two unanswered goals, but it was all to no avail as the Panther stars flexed their muscle. Ben Coull was BOG, while Henry Schade joined Jaksch as part of the A-Grade talent on display with another standout performance. Peter Gleadhill was the best for the Bloods alongside Nicholas Garratt. The Panthers extended their lead at the top of the table, while the Bloods remain entrenched in ninth spot.

Eight goals to one in the second half led Beaumaris to a thrilling 17-point come-from-behind victory against Ajax at Gary Smorgon Oval. The Sharks trailed by 27 points at half time but rallied when they came out of the main break with three unanswered goals before taking the lead with five goals to one in the fourth. Rob Cathcart and Jonno Nash led the charge for the Sharks’ fourth win of the year, while Jake Lew kicked three goals for the Jackas. The win -re-opens the door to the top four for the Sharks where they sit fourth and three spots above Ajax.

St Bernard’s proved far too strong for Mazenod in their Round 6 match up, running out 86-point winners at Central Reserve. 33 scoring shots to 12 indicates the sheer dominance of the Snow Dogs who set the game up with eight goals to two in the opening term. Jack McNamara booted four goals in a BOG performance for the Snow Dogs, while Jordan Farrell and Michael Caven kicked three each. Thomas Warby was a standout on a disappointing day for the Nodders as they now sit two games outside the four with a percentage of 66.

Parkdale Vultures returned to the winners’ column with a commanding 69-point win over Monash Blues at Gerry Green Reserve. Leading by eight points at quarter time, the Vultures piled on 11 goals to just one for the remainder of the match. The Blues will rue inaccuracy as they kicked 3.15. Vultures skipper and GT Moore Medallist Charlie Dillon was unstoppable with six goals in a BOG display, while teammate Nathan Papatsanis booted three. Nicholas McConville and Keegan Mason found themselves best afield for the Blues as they continue their search for their first win.

Six goals from Lochy Dornauf helped University Blacks to a hard-fought 14-point victory over Caulfield Grammarians at Uni Oval. The Blacks and Fields both sat inside the top four heading into the weekend and the game played out as anticipated, with both sides having moments of dominance. The Blacks led by 22 points at the last break but gave up four goals to three in the fourth. Jordan Quaile and Campbell Moorfield were alongside Dornauf as the Blacks’ best players while Jordan Stewart kicked four goals for the Fields. Declan Reilly was named the Fields best player. The Blacks remain second while the Fields fall to fifth behind the Sharks.
