Saints go marching into Grand Final, Caulfield continue to defy odds
The first week of the William Buck Premier Women’s finals saw two scintillating contests go right down to the wire, as Caulfield live to fight another day after overcoming Kew
The VAFA congratulates Georgie Cooper from Caulfield Grammarians who has been named the Round 6 Anytime Fitness Rising Star.
“This is Georgia’s third year of football and first year playing at Caulfield Grammarians. Georgia comes from basketball but decided to try football because it looked like so much fun.
Her grandpa, Ken Greenwood played for Carlton and Western Bulldogs. Georgia was the only one of his grandkids who played football and she wanted to make him proud.
Georgia went to school with Sarah and Jess Hosking who have been her role models. She admires them for how hard they have worked to get to where they are. As a winger she plays like former Caulfield Grammarian Paul Seedsman.
As a basketballer Georgia and her Dad would practice catching the ball and learning to push him out of the way. So, marking is now one of her strengths but probably her main strength is her lightning speed.
Georgia is a super friendly and cheerful team mate. With her dashing speed, bright orange boots and long blonde hair she is easy to pick out. As a 17-year-old school girl Georgia has the potential to go a long way.”
