Collegians star George Burbury has been named the senior men’s Big V captain for the second year in a row as we prepare to take on the Adelaide Footy League this weekend.
Alongside senior coach Stu Powell, Burbury led the Big V to a record-breaking 82-point victory over AFL Victoria Country in Frankston last year.
He was recently named the Player of the Series on the VAFA’s tour of Ireland in October, having also captained those four international rules games.
He represented the Big V for the first time against the South Australian Amateur Football League in 2016 after playing AFL for Geelong Cats from 2013 to 2014.
Burbury will be assisted by Big V champion and Old Melburnians skipper, Tom Paule, after he was named vice-captain for the third consecutive year.
Paule debuted at senior level for OMs in 2006 and has since carved out a spectacular career; including, the 2014 GT Moore Medal, representative honours from U23s through to seniors and is a Spirit of the Big V recipient.
The VAFA congratulates both George and Tom on their appointments and look forward to seeing them lead out the Big V on Saturday.
