This weekend marks the inaugural pride match for the Caulfield Grammarians FC women’s teams whereby both the seniors and reserves sides will celebrate the round by donning a specially-designed jumper featuring rainbow bands as well as rainbow socks.
The match aims to raise funds for the National LGBTI Health Alliance, an organisation whose mission is to provide a national focus to improve health outcomes for the LGBTI community.
The CGFC women’s sides will be battling it out on the day against Kew Football Club. The Kew seniors will get involved by wearing their own rainbow guernseys following their successful pride match earlier in the season.
The club will host a BBQ to raise additional funds, as well as a bake sale.
The club says “this player-driven initiative is another step towards promoting inclusiveness and equality in the Caulfield Grammarians Football Club following the successful introduction of the women’s team last year”.
“CGFC would like to extend an invitation to the VAFA and the wider community to come down and support this great cause.”
