Three women’s players were named their section best & fairest overnight with Georgia Scarce (Ivanhoe AFC), Georgina Petty (Williamstown CYMS) and Holly Bailey (MCC) running out Division 1-3 winners.
Division 1
Scarce had eight votes at the half way mark of the season and sat five behind Eliza German (TP) but dominated in the back end of the year with three BOG performances to finish the count with 21. She finished three ahead of German, with Meg Geschke (SBMT) and Sarah Kerr (Ivanhoe) equal-third on 17.
Division 2
Petty entered a purple patch from Rounds 3-7 where she polled four BOG’s and finished the count on 18 votes. She was ahead of Whitefriars duo Clare Fernandes (17) and Ilaria Akers (16), both of whom led the charge in the first nine rounds with five 3-voters and five 2-voters between them. Jacqueline Mitchelhill (OIG) and Issy Smith (OM) rounded out the top five with 15 votes each.
Division 3
It all came down to the last game for MCC FC’s Holly Bailey who polled three votes in her side’s five-point win over Powerhouse to edge past Shannon Danckert (Emmaus St Leo’s) and Anita Ovenden (Preston Bullants) on 21 apiece. 21 of Bailey’s 22 votes came from BOG performances, with five coming in the first eight rounds.
