2018 Premier B (Blue) Reserves premiership coach and West Brunswick Life Member, Josh Melican, will take his coaching ambitions to the next level in 2018 after he was announced as the senior coach of the Westies women’s team earlier this week.
Melican, who was a part of the club’s 2008 Division 4 premiership side, coached the reserves women to an incredible come-from-behind grand final victory against Old Geelong where they trailed by 22 points at the final break before storming home with four unanswered goals in the fourth.
Making the announcement on social media, the Westies said “Josh was the standout candidate for the position, demonstrating a clear game plan and coaching philosophy, with tremendous attention to detail”.
Melican was the assistant to Darren Smith in last year’s grand final run against St Mary’s Salesian before leading their first reserves side this season.
