The VAFA Board elected a new Executive after last night’s Annual General Meeting, with George Voyage becoming the 19th President of our Association.
Voyage was elected unopposed following Tim Nelson’s resignation after three and a half years at the helm.
Adam Kirkwood-Scott was elected as vice-president, while Mick Overman was also elected unopposed as Treasurer.
Voyage commenced his VAFA career in 1970 and played 240 games for Caulfield Grammarians over 18 seasons. He was granted life membership of the Fields and shortly thereafter appointed as senior coach for three years.
In 1997, he was appointed VAFA A-D4 and C-D4 Big V coach and enjoyed an envious winning streak in that position with only one loss (in his first year at the helm).
He relinquished that role in 2008 when he was elected to the Board of the VAFA where he was most recently vice-president to Nelson.
Kirkwood-Scott played 147 games for Old Haileybury and was a member of the committee from 2005-‘07.
A Director and a member of the Executive Board at William Buck, Kirkwood-Scott was most recently Treasurer of the Association.
Overman played more than 120 games with St Bernard’s in the 1980’s and after establishing his professional career and young family, he returned to St Bernard’s as an administrator and coach. He joined the junior committee in 1999, later becoming the junior’s president and Director of Football for five years before graduating to become the senior president from 2006 until 2009.
Overman started the St Bernard’s Auskick program in 2000, received life membership in 2004 and was awarded Best Clubman in 2008.
He joined the VAFA Board in December 2016, is the Director of representative Football and a member of the Finance and Risk sub-committee.
The VAFA congratulates George, Adam and Mick, and thanks Tim for his outstanding contribution as President over the past three and a half years.
