It’s second v third at Canterbury Sports Ground this Saturday as Canterbury host Aquinas in a possible finals insight for Division 3. The Bloods hold the ladder ascendancy with an additional 12 premiership points and 71.15% over the Cobras, but a repeat of their 61-point Round 1 drubbing is not nearly a certain thing as we approach the pointy end of the season. Following his three-goal haul in Round 12, look for Joshua Robertson (29 goals) to again make scoreboard impact here – and possibly dethrone Manningham’s Kane Maghamez (31 goals), who has not taken to the field in the Cobras’ last two matches, atop the Division 3 goalkicking leader board.
The going has been tough for the Red Devils in 2019, who were red hot following their promotion to Division 3 at the end of 2018. The pressure this higher section applies is unlikely to ease in Round 13 as they host first-placed Manningham. Having only met three rounds ago, the Cobras will be quietly confident in their ability to beat Parkside again in this contest given the 89-point outcome in Round 9.
Three consecutive wins later, and Westbourne Grammarians look primed to take on an Emmaus St Leos side who will return to the field for the first time in a month (bye rounds). Sitting fourth and fifth on the ladder, respectively, only one match currently distinguishes the Warriors and Animals. If the Animals can get back on the winners list here, a result not improbable given they led for the majority of their last battle in Round 6, their superior percentage will see them return to them to the finals circle.
