Division 1 welcomed two new teams to the competition, as the top two again showed why they are the equal flag favourites for the division.
Five goals from Lucy Grant has propelled an inaccurate Old Brighton to its third win of the season, defeating Old Haileyburians by 38 points. The Tonners booted 8.16 for the match, however the sheer amount of scoring shots proved enough to earn victory, as they led at every break throughout the game. Sienna Courtney was instrumental for Old Brighton, while Grants five goal haul has her atop the goal kicking tally with 17 on the season. Carly Dillon was again impressive for the Hearts.
Old Brighton will host Williamstown in round five, whilst Old Haileyburians will remain on the road as they travel to face Old Scotch.
Williamstown are back on the winners list after defeating Division 1 newcomers Whitefriars OC by 11 points. In a tightly contested affair, the CY’s were able to hold the Friars scoreless in the last quarter, erasing a two-point deficit on their way to victory. Elizabeth Chan was the standout for Williamstown in a best on ground performance, while Stephanie Basile booted three goals. Ilaria Akers was best afield for Whitefriars.
Williamstown face a tough test away to Old Brighton, as Whitefriars will host fellow Division 1 newcomers Old Melburnians.
An eight goal to zero first quarter from Old Scotch welcomed Old Melburnians to Division 1, before going on to win by an emphatic 107 points. The ladder leaders were always going to be a tough task first up for the OM’s, with the Cardinals looking to make another statement on its quest to another Division 1 premiership. Alexandra Theodosi’s six goal performance earned her best on ground honours, with Mia Caffry also a standout for Old Scotch. Cleo Faulks and Nakita Wilson led the way for Old Melburnians.
Old Scotch will host Old Haileyburians as they look to keep setting the pace in Division 1, while Old Melburnians will look to hit back as they travel to face Whitefriars.
