Huge congratulations to St Mary’s Salesian young gun, Keely James, who has been nominated as the Anytime Fitness Women’s Rising Star for Round 7 following her standout performance for the Saints in their tight loss to Old Trinity.
What the club said:
“Keely first started playing footy in the U/14’s at Oakleigh Dragons Junior Football Club, after coming from a netball background. She progressed through the age groups at Oakleigh and joined the Oakleigh Chargers in the NAB Youth League in 2021.
Keely came across to St Mary’s Salesian this season as her local club and has very quickly become an important member of our emerging young brigade of senior players. Her elite kicking skills, her positioning and her ability to read the play are the building blocks of her game.
As a midfield player, Keely’s strength and hardness around the ball and her ability to shut players out are outstanding. She plays the game in the mould of a Bri Davey, Erin Phillips or Kiara Bowers. Her teammates love her ability to bring others into the game – always striving to bring out the best in herself and her teammates.”
